Description

Cocoa nibs are made from unprocessed cocoa beans and contain no sugar. Their flavor is complex, a bit bitter but also fruity at the same time: if you are a dark chocolate fan, then you’ll enjoy cocoa nibs. They are ready to use as is, but they can also be ground finer in a mortar and pestle to use in a variety of recipes, for example mole sauces, or to prepare Mexican hot cocoa. As is, they are a great addition to many baked goods, from Rice Krispies treats to cookies, and a tasty and crunchy topping for parfaits, yogurt, and oats. Their slight bitterness makes them ideal to balance out sweet preparations, for example in frosting – try them with mascarpone and cream cheese atop a chocolate cupcake. Cocoa nibs can also be used as a dairy free chocolate chip substitute.

Our cocoa nibs are sourced from Grenada, an island in the Caribbean famous for its cocoa and nutmeg production. We purchase them through Cocoa Farming Future Initiative, a non-profit that supports fair agricultural practices and wages for cocoa farmers on the island. Naturally vegan and gluten-free.
