Description
Chicha Morada is a beverage that originated in the Andean regions of Peru, made by boiling indigenous purple corn with various spices. This delicious purple drink is very popular throughout Peru, and can be enjoyed either hot or cold, as is or sweetened – traditionally with pineapple chunks, but it works great with most sweeteners, from stevia to maple syrup – or as a base for cocktails, mocktails, and punch. The spice component of our Chicha is our Mulled Spice Mix; we find that the warm flavors of orange, star anise, cinnamon, cloves, and allspice are the perfect counterpoint to the fruity, hibiscus-like taste of the corn, and make for very layered yet refreshing flavor profile that will be thoroughly enjoyed even by people who aren’t normally into herbal teas. Because of its long cooking time, we recommend using the whole bag and then refrigerate/reheat as needed. Since it’s completely caffeine-free, Chicha won’t turn bitter over time. Naturally caffeine-free and vegan.
