Description

Chaga mushroom (Inonotus Obliquus) is a type of fungus that grows mainly on the bark of birch trees in cold climates, such as Northern Europe, Russia, New England, and Canada.
It appears like a woody growth, which looks similar to a clump of burnt charcoal. However, the inside reveals a softer core with an orange color. For centuries, chaga has been used as a traditional medicine in Russia and other Northern European countries, mainly to boost immunity and overall health as it is very rich in antioxidants and believed to naturally reduce inflammation.
If you are on any medication, consult your doctor before ingesting chaga tea, as it might negatively interact with certain prescription drugs such as blood thinners or insulin.
Chaga tea need to be prepared with a long-simmered infusion. The mushroom pieces are combined with water (roughly 8 cups per ½ oz chunk) and simmered for at least 30 minutes or until the water is dark like black tea. The tea can be refrigerated and reheated as needed. Chaga chunks can be re-infused up to 3 times when refrigerated in-between uses. Subsequent infusions will yield a lighter color tea, but the medicinal properties won’t be diminished. Our Chaga is foraged in New Hampshire. Naturally vegan and gluten-free.
